Lalita works with Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT) across Community Implementation and the Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP), while also reviewing the STEM curriculum. In the Girls In STEM program, she engages adolescent girls to build interest in STEM fields and challenge stereotypes. She has been an alumna of YWLP since 2013.
She and her colleagues started two key campaigns: Our Right (Apna Haq) in 2013 and Early and Forced Marriage (Todo Bandishe) in 2015. Through home film screenings in their communities, they opened up critical conversations around early and forced marriage and girls' rights.
In 2015, Lalita interned at FAT’s Jugaad Lab, where she learned to break down science and math concepts into simple, accessible ideas. This hands-on approach shaped her own relationship with STEM — building her confidence and helping her overcome her fear of power tools such as the drill machine, jigsaw, and circular saw.
From YWLP alumna to STEM curriculum reviewer and community leader, Lalita continues to empower young girls to break barriers in technology and social change.
