Amita Arya is an engineer by training, with over 21 years of experience in telecommunications before moving into the social sector in 2014 with the Kaivalya Education Foundation. Since then, her work has centered on research and capacity-building for professionals across public education and public health systems.
A second Master’s degree in Women Centered Practice from TISS Mumbai shaped her direction. Her research and field work with adolescent girls and young women in rural and urban settings reinforced her belief that human difference is a resource to build on—creating empathy, creativity, and resilience within systems.
She currently serves as Portfolio Lead – Curriculum and STEM Innovation at Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT), focusing on making STEM education more inclusive and better designed for the young women it too often fails to reach.
As Portfolio Lead for Curriculum & STEM Innovation, Amita combines technical expertise and gender theory to create inclusive STEM education for young women.
